Tharelia ("The Land of Thar" - spelt THAH-RAY-LEE-AH) is a planet located in the Stable Type I Tharelian Universe, with coordinates 754.858.946. It's the second planet of the Tharelian Sun, with a mean radius of 6,214 km. The Tharelian year has 320 days. The planet name was given after Thar the Elder, the Unifier of the Three Tribes and founder of the Erlah Church.

The planet has 3 main continents:

• Nopah (Capital: Yontah)

• Erlah (Capital: Erinah)

• Surnah (Capital: Surnarah)

Tharelian continents are not connected but separated by vast oceans. The biggest water mass is the Equator Sea, followed by the East Sea. Temperatures vary from -56° C at the Anhil to 42°C at the Yazhir Jungles, both located in Surnah.

Solar year of Tharelia is shorther than Blue year in two months. The mean Tharelian solar year is equivalent to 300 Blue days and 4 hours.

Tharelian total population is 8,402,694,730. Flora and fauna outside Surnah are severely affected by pollution and poaching. Natural resources are scarce, and the humanoid population relies only on fossil fuels as energy sources.

HISTORY

Humanoid occupation of the planet started from The Great Narah, the biggest island of the planet located at the continent of Erlah. Small Hemitic communities were formed around the city of Erinah about 10,000 years ago. Occupation of the other continents was only possible 5,000 years ago, with the advent of a more advanced sea navigation. The jungles of Yazhir received colonizers who established several communities near the Equator, founding the city of Surnarah. Other groups colonized the continent of Nopah, founding the city of Yontah.

 

Surnah has a population of 120,000 An'hals, members of an indigenous, non-Hemitic group living at the Southern island called The Anhill.

 

Chieftains and warlords started to dominate the vital space and local populations 3,000 years ago. Hundreds of small nations were then created. War, invasions and looting were frequent. But a religious leader of the Cult of the Lords of Time, named Thar the Elder, started a campaign among his followers to reunite the nations in just three tribes. Thar the Elder quickly became a threat to the power of the local chieftains and he was persecuted and imprisoned until his death. But his personal sacrifice created the conditions for the reunification of the tribes and the development of the Erlah Church, based on the scripts written by Thar called The Makbath, or The Received Doctrine.

The three tribes, now the countries of Erlah, Surnah and Nopah, developed independently and in relative peace for the next 3,000 years. But the emphasis on materialism, hedonism and technology of the Nopah culture, allied to the warlord tradition in Surnah and the weakening and endemic corruption of the Erlah Church brought tensions between the great nations.

CULTURE AND RELIGION

In spite of the immense population of the planet, Tharelians speak only one common language. All personal names of the male Tharelians begin and end with the particle "thar", as in Thar Jonthar, Thar Zedthar, etc. For the female Tharelians, the particle "thari" is used, as in Thari Lipthari, Thari Santhari, etc.

Nopah population use the Rhom, sans-serif characters in their writings. Erlahs use the Hemith traditional characters and Surnahs use Habikh characters.

The official religion is the Orthodox Erlah Church. In practice, this religion is only strictly followed by Erlahs. Pagan cults related to nature are common in Surnah, and most of the Nopah population is atheist. Nevertheless, all married women use the haj, scarves with colourful textiles at Nopah and Surnah and black at Erlah. The Thar Shvar, or "the soul of Thar", celebrated at the 20th. day of the 10th. month, is observed almost worldwide, with meditations and exchange of gifts.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Tharelian energy sources are fossil-oriented. Micro-electronics are very advanced, as well as Theoretical Physics. Given the prospect of the depletion of natural resources and over-population scenario, Nopah militaries and civilians started to develop The Hyperon Project 50 years ago. The Project aims to create an escape route to at least 10% of the Tharelian population, looking for Parallel Universes with planets suited to harbour Tharelian physiology. The Hyperon Project cost Th$ 50 trillion (50 trillions of tharions) until now, with acceptable theoretical and practical results. The Hyperon Project led to the discovery of the Type I Stable Blue Universe.

Hyperon researchers also detected 45 years ago the existence of a mirror Universe of Blue. It has just one habitable planet called "Earth", with an advanced civilisation.
